About the Role
This Advanced Nurse Practitioner (Community/Primary Care) position focuses specifically on respiratory health services within our Cavan Monaghan Primary Care Services. You will work autonomously to provide specialist respiratory care, conducting comprehensive assessments, developing treatment plans, and supporting patients with chronic respiratory conditions. This role reports to the Director of Public Health Nursing and is integral to our community healthcare delivery model.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive respiratory assessments and develop evidence-based care plans for patients with COPD, asthma, and other respiratory conditions
- Provide advanced clinical interventions including spirometry, medication management, and respiratory rehabilitation programs
- Lead respiratory health promotion initiatives within the community, including smoking cessation programs and chronic disease management
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including GPs, respiratory consultants, and community health professionals
- Mentor and supervise junior nursing staff and students in respiratory care best practices
- Maintain clinical governance standards through audit, research participation, and continuous professional development
- Manage complex respiratory cases requiring specialist intervention and coordinate care transitions between primary and secondary services
Required Qualifications
Essential Requirements
- Registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI) as a Registered General Nurse
- Minimum 5 years post-registration experience with demonstrated expertise in respiratory nursing
- Specialist respiratory qualification or advanced training in respiratory care
- Advanced Nurse Practitioner qualification or eligibility for registration as ANP with NMBI
- Demonstrated depth and breadth of nursing experience in the specialist area of respiratory care
Preferred Qualifications
- Postgraduate qualification in respiratory medicine or chronic disease management
- Experience with spirometry and respiratory function testing
- Advanced life support certification and emergency respiratory care experience
- Prescribing qualification or willingness to undertake prescribing training
- Experience in community or primary care settings with respiratory patient populations
