About the Role
This Clinical Nurse Manager 2 position in Acute Services at Wexford General Hospital represents an exciting leadership opportunity within Ireland’s public healthcare system. You will be responsible for managing clinical nursing operations, ensuring high-quality patient care delivery, and leading a dedicated nursing team in our busy acute care environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage nursing teams within the acute services department, ensuring optimal staffing levels and clinical coverage
- Oversee clinical nursing standards and implement evidence-based practices across acute care units
- Coordinate patient care delivery working closely with multidisciplinary teams to ensure seamless healthcare provision
- Monitor quality assurance indicators and participate in clinical audits and quality improvement initiatives
- Manage staff development programs including orientation, training, and continuing professional development for nursing staff
- Ensure compliance with HSE policies and regulatory requirements specific to acute care services
- Participate in budget planning and resource allocation for nursing services within the acute care setting
Required Qualifications
Essential Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Nursing or equivalent professional qualification
- Current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI)
- Minimum 5 years clinical nursing experience with demonstrated acute care expertise
- Previous nursing management experience preferably in acute hospital settings
- Strong leadership and communication skills with ability to manage multidisciplinary teams
Preferred Qualifications
- Postgraduate qualification in nursing management or healthcare leadership
- Specialized acute care certifications or additional clinical qualifications
- Experience with HSE systems and public healthcare environment
- Quality improvement methodology training such as Lean or Six Sigma
