Sligo University Hospital, part of HSE West North West, is seeking a dedicated Candidate Advanced Nurse Practitioner (cANP) or Advanced Nurse Practitioner (ANP) to join our innovative Acute Assessment Unit with Virtual Ward capabilities. About the Role
Join our progressive Acute Assessment Unit team at Sligo University Hospital, where you’ll work across both acute hospital and community settings through our pioneering Virtual Ward model. This role offers the opportunity to advance from cANP to ANP within 3 years, providing comprehensive patient care while bridging hospital and community healthcare services.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide advanced nursing assessment and care planning for patients in the Acute Assessment Unit
- Deliver Virtual Ward services, extending hospital-level care into community settings
- Conduct comprehensive patient assessments and develop individualized care plans
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure seamless patient transitions between acute and community care
- Mentor and support nursing staff in advanced practice techniques and Virtual Ward protocols
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and evidence-based practice development
- Maintain accurate documentation and ensure compliance with NMBI standards and HSE policies
Required Qualifications
Essential Requirements
- Current registration with NMBI as a Registered General Nurse
- Post-registration experience in acute hospital settings
- Completion of or enrollment in Advanced Nurse Practitioner education program
- Demonstrated competency in advanced clinical assessment and care planning
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Flexibility to work across hospital and community settings
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in Acute Assessment Units or similar fast-paced environments
- Knowledge of Virtual Ward concepts and community-based care models
- Leadership experience in nursing practice
- Continuing professional development in advanced nursing practice
