About the Role
This Registrar position in Paediatrics offers the opportunity to work within a dynamic pediatric department at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, providing comprehensive medical care to children and adolescents. You will join an experienced multidisciplinary team committed to delivering excellence in pediatric healthcare while developing your clinical expertise in this specialized field.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive medical care to pediatric patients across various age groups from newborns to adolescents
- Conduct thorough clinical assessments, diagnostic evaluations, and treatment planning for pediatric conditions
- Collaborate effectively with consultant pediatricians, nursing staff, and allied health professionals in multidisciplinary care teams
- Participate in ward rounds, clinical consultations, and emergency pediatric care as required
- Maintain accurate and detailed medical records in compliance with HSE standards and pediatric care protocols
- Contribute to continuous professional development through training programs, clinical audits, and pediatric research initiatives
- Support teaching and mentoring of junior medical staff and medical students in pediatric medicine
Required Qualifications
Essential Requirements
- Medical degree recognized by the Medical Council of Ireland with full registration
- Minimum of 2-3 years post-graduate medical experience with demonstrable pediatric training
- Current pediatric life support certification (PALS or equivalent)
- Strong clinical skills in pediatric assessment, diagnosis, and treatment planning
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for working with children, families, and healthcare teams
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous registrar-level experience in pediatrics or related pediatric subspecialties
- Experience in acute pediatric care and emergency pediatric medicine
- Knowledge of HSE clinical guidelines and pediatric care pathways
- Commitment to pursuing further specialization in pediatric medicine
