The Health Service Executive (HSE) is Ireland’s national health service provider, delivering comprehensive healthcare services across the country. We are seeking a dedicated Catering Assistant to join our team at Connolly Hospital Blanchardstown in Dublin North. About the Role

As a Catering Assistant at Connolly Hospital, you will play a vital role in ensuring patients and staff receive nutritious, well-prepared meals in a timely manner. You will work within our modern hospital catering facilities, contributing to the overall patient care experience through food service excellence. This position offers the flexibility to work in both the main catering department and ward catering areas based on service requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and serve meals and beverages to patients and staff according to hospital schedules and dietary requirements
  • Maintain strict food safety and hygiene standards in compliance with HACCP guidelines and statutory regulations
  • Ensure thorough cleaning and sanitization of all catering equipment, work surfaces, and service areas
  • Assist with food preparation tasks including portioning, garnishing, and temperature monitoring
  • Support meal distribution services to various hospital wards and departments
  • Maintain accurate records of food temperatures, cleaning schedules, and stock rotation
  • Collaborate effectively with catering team members, nursing staff, and other hospital departments

Required Qualifications

Essential Requirements

  • Leaving Certificate or equivalent educational qualification
  • Previous catering or food service experience preferred but full training provided
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow food safety protocols
  • Physical ability to stand for extended periods and lift moderate weights
  • Excellent communication skills and professional attitude with patients and colleagues

Preferred Qualifications

  • HACCP or food safety certification (training can be provided)
  • Experience in healthcare or institutional catering environment
  • Flexibility to work various shifts including weekends and holidays
  • Basic computer skills for record-keeping and inventory management
