Cavan and Monaghan Hospital, part of the HSE Dublin and North East region, is seeking dedicated Healthcare Assistants to join our patient care team. About the Role
As a Healthcare Assistant at Cavan and Monaghan Hospital, you will provide essential support to nursing staff and contribute directly to patient care and comfort. You’ll work within our multidisciplinary healthcare team, helping to maintain high standards of patient care across various hospital departments.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist nursing staff in the provision of direct patient care and comfort measures
- Support patients with personal hygiene, mobility, and daily living activities
- Maintain clean and safe patient environments in accordance with infection control protocols
- Assist with patient transfers and positioning using appropriate manual handling techniques
- Monitor and report changes in patient condition to nursing staff promptly
- Support patient meal times and ensure adequate nutrition and hydration
- Maintain accurate documentation and records as directed by qualified nursing staff
Required Qualifications
Essential Requirements
- Leaving Certificate or equivalent educational qualification
- Previous experience in healthcare, patient care, or related customer service role preferred
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for interacting with patients and families
- Physical fitness to perform manual handling and assist with patient mobility
- Commitment to maintaining patient dignity, privacy, and confidentiality
Preferred Qualifications
- QQI Level 5 qualification in Healthcare Support or related field
- Experience working in a hospital or healthcare facility environment
- Basic life support or first aid certification
- Understanding of infection prevention and control principles
