About the Role
This Radiography Assistant position within our Medical Imaging department at Wexford General Hospital offers the opportunity to work alongside qualified radiographers in providing essential diagnostic imaging services. You will be supporting patient care through accurate imaging procedures while working in a dynamic hospital environment that serves the Wexford community and surrounding areas.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist qualified radiographers in performing diagnostic imaging procedures including X-rays, CT scans, and other medical imaging studies
- Prepare examination rooms and equipment ensuring optimal functionality and patient safety standards
- Position and prepare patients for imaging procedures, providing clear instructions and reassurance throughout the process
- Maintain accurate patient records and imaging documentation in accordance with HSE protocols and data protection requirements
- Ensure proper infection control procedures are followed in all imaging areas and equipment handling
- Assist with inventory management of imaging supplies and contrast materials
- Support patient flow coordination within the Medical Imaging department to optimize service delivery
Required Qualifications
Essential Requirements
- Leaving Certificate or equivalent educational qualification
- Previous healthcare or customer service experience of at least 1 year preferred
- Strong communication skills with ability to interact compassionately with patients of all ages
- Physical capability to assist with patient positioning and equipment handling
- Basic computer literacy for patient record systems and imaging software
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in healthcare settings particularly in diagnostic imaging or radiology departments
- Knowledge of medical terminology and healthcare procedures
- Additional healthcare training or certification in patient care
