Cork University Hospital, part of the HSE South West region, is seeking a dedicated Advanced Nurse Practitioner to join our specialized Endoscopy and Anaemia Unit in Wilton, Cork. This is a permanent, full-time position offering the opportunity to work within a leading university hospital providing advanced gastroenterology services.
About the Role
We are looking for an experienced Advanced Nurse Practitioner to provide specialized nursing care within our Endoscopy and Anaemia Unit at Cork University Hospital. This role offers the opportunity to work alongside a multidisciplinary team in delivering high-quality patient care in gastroenterology and haematology services, with direct support from Consultant Gastroenterologists and the nursing management team.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide advanced clinical assessment and management of patients in endoscopy and anaemia services
- Conduct comprehensive patient consultations and develop individualized care plans for complex gastroenterology and haematology cases
- Perform specialized procedures within the endoscopy unit under consultant supervision and mentorship
- Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams including consultants, nursing staff, and allied health professionals
- Maintain detailed clinical documentation and ensure compliance with all regulatory and quality standards
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and evidence-based practice development within the unit
- Provide patient and family education regarding procedures, treatments, and ongoing care requirements
Required Qualifications
Essential Requirements
- Current registration with NMBI (Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland) as a Registered General Nurse
- Advanced Nurse Practitioner qualification or eligibility for ANP registration with NMBI
- Minimum 5 years post-registration experience in acute hospital settings with at least 2 years in gastroenterology or related specialty
- Demonstrated clinical expertise in endoscopy, gastroenterology, or haematology services
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with ability to work autonomously and as part of a team
Preferred Qualifications
- Post-graduate qualifications in gastroenterology, endoscopy, or related specialty area
- Previous ANP experience in hospital or acute care setting
- Experience in clinical research or quality improvement projects
- Teaching and mentoring experience with undergraduate or postgraduate nursing students
