We are seeking an experienced Assistant Director of Nursing to join our Intellectual Disability Services team in Sligo, Leitrim, South Donegal, and West Cavan. About the Role
Join our dedicated team as Assistant Director of Nursing within our Intellectual Disability Services, where you’ll play a crucial role in implementing person-centered care and the New Directions framework. Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage nursing teams across intellectual disability services, ensuring high-quality person-centered care delivery
- Implement the New Directions framework and evidence-based practices within intellectual disability service settings
- Develop and oversee care plans that promote independence, choice, and quality of life for service users
- Ensure compliance with HSE policies, HIQA standards, and regulatory requirements specific to intellectual disability services
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including social workers, therapists, and medical professionals to deliver integrated care
- Mentor and support nursing staff through clinical supervision, professional development, and performance management
- Manage budgets and resources effectively while maintaining service quality and operational efficiency
Required Qualifications
Essential Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Nursing with current registration on the NMBI register
- Minimum 5 years post-qualification experience with substantial intellectual disability services experience
- Demonstrated leadership experience in nursing management or senior clinical roles
- Comprehensive knowledge of New Directions implementation and intellectual disability care frameworks
- Strong understanding of HIQA standards, safeguarding procedures, and person-centered planning
Preferred Qualifications
- Postgraduate qualification in nursing management, intellectual disability, or related field
- Experience in HSE services or large-scale healthcare organizations
- Proven track record in change management and service development within disability services
- Knowledge of assistive technologies and therapeutic interventions in intellectual disability care
