The Health Service Executive (HSE) Mid West is inviting applications for the position of Registrar (ICPOP Programme) based in Thurles, Co. Tipperary. This is a fixed-term, whole-time medical registrar post within the Integrated Care Programme for Older Persons (ICPOP), offering an immediate start.
About the Role
As part of the Integrated Care Programme for Older Persons, the Registrar will support the delivery of multidisciplinary care to older adults across the Mid West region. The role focuses on comprehensive geriatric assessment, chronic disease management, and coordination of community and acute services to improve patient outcomes and reduce hospital admissions.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct clinical assessments and manage patients within the ICPOP model of care.
- Work collaboratively with consultants, nurses, therapists, and community teams.
- Participate in multidisciplinary meetings and contribute to patient care planning.
- Support data collection, audit, and research activities related to integrated care.
- Provide education and guidance to junior staff and medical students.
- Ensure compliance with HSE clinical governance and safety protocols.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of older persons’ services in the Mid West region.
Required Qualifications
Essential
- Registered (or eligible for registration) with the Irish Medical Council under the General or Specialist Division.
- A minimum of two years’ post-graduate hospital experience in medicine.
- Strong clinical skills in geriatric medicine, internal medicine, or rehabilitation.
- Excellent communication, teamwork, and organisational abilities.
Preferred
- Experience in integrated care, community medicine, or public health.
- Postgraduate qualification in General Internal Medicine or Geriatrics.
- Familiarity with HSE electronic health systems and multidisciplinary team environments.
