About the Role

The Telephonist/Receptionist (Grade IV) supports the smooth operation of the hospital’s front-of-house and switchboard services. Working as part of the administration and management team, you will handle calls, greet visitors, and ensure efficient internal communication across departments.


Key Responsibilities

  • Operate and manage the hospital telephone switchboard and reception desk.
  • Respond promptly to public, patient, and staff enquiries.
  • Manage mail, correspondence, and administrative documentation.
  • Maintain accurate logs and communication records.
  • Support hospital departments with scheduling and coordination.
  • Ensure a welcoming, professional environment for all visitors.
  • Uphold confidentiality, GDPR, and HSE communications policies.

Required Qualifications

Essential

  • Existing employment within HSE, TUSLA, Section 38 Agency, or Statutory Health Agency (per WRC Agreement 161867).
  • Minimum of two years’ administrative or clerical experience in a comparable setting.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and hospital information systems.
  • Excellent communication and multitasking skills.

Preferred

  • Previous experience in a hospital or healthcare reception/switchboard role.
  • Knowledge of HSE administrative structures and processes.
  • Strong customer-service and problem-solving orientation.

What We Offer

  • Permanent wholetime contract (HSE Dublin and South East).
  • Salary in line with the HSE Grade IV (0558) scale (effective 1 August 2025):
    €36,906 – €53,700 per annum (PPC scale, with LSIs as per Department of Health Circular 6/2025).
