Join University Hospital Waterford (UHW) as a Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) in Stroke Care. This is a key permanent full-time post within the HSE Dublin and South East region, providing advanced nursing expertise in the prevention, assessment, and management of stroke.
About the Role
As a Clinical Nurse Specialist in Stroke, you’ll deliver evidence-based specialist nursing care and leadership in stroke prevention and rehabilitation. You’ll act as a resource for staff and patients, contributing to clinical governance, education, and service development.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver specialist stroke care and support multidisciplinary team coordination.
- Provide clinical assessment, treatment planning, and follow-up for stroke patients.
- Contribute to staff education and continuous professional development initiatives.
- Promote best practice and quality improvement in stroke services.
- Participate in clinical audit, data collection, and research.
- Support patient and family education on stroke prevention and recovery.
Required Qualifications
Essential
- Registered General Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI).
- Minimum 5 years post-registration experience, including relevant acute/stroke care.
- Postgraduate qualification in a relevant specialty (or evidence of working toward one).
- Proven clinical, leadership, and communication skills.
Preferred
- Experience in nurse-led clinics or specialist service coordination.
- Evidence of ongoing professional development and audit participation.
