Clinical Specialist Physiotherapist – Women’s Health (Postnatal Hub) – Ennis / Mid West | HSE Mid West

The Health Service Executive (HSE) Mid West is inviting applications for a Clinical Specialist Physiotherapist in Women’s Health to join the Mid West Acute Services team. This key post will lead advanced postnatal physiotherapy services across Ennis Hospital and associated postnatal hubs in Clare, Limerick, and North Tipperary.

About the Role

As Clinical Specialist Physiotherapist (Women’s Health – Postnatal Hub), you will provide expert assessment, diagnosis, and evidence-based intervention for postnatal patients across acute and community settings. This permanent, whole-time role will be based primarily at Ennis Hospital, with travel required across the HSE Mid West region.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver advanced physiotherapy services for women’s health and postnatal recovery.
  • Lead multidisciplinary care pathways to optimise outcomes in postnatal rehabilitation.
  • Support clinical governance and quality improvement in women’s health services.
  • Provide leadership, mentorship, and clinical supervision to physiotherapy teams.
  • Contribute to service development and research initiatives within the Mid West Acute Services.
  • Liaise with obstetrics, midwifery, and community partners to ensure seamless patient care.
  • Maintain accurate clinical documentation and participate in audit processes.

Required Qualifications

Essential

  • Hold a BSc (Hons) or equivalent qualification in Physiotherapy.
  • Be registered on the Physiotherapists Register maintained by CORU.
  • Have at least five years post-qualification experience, including substantial women’s health clinical practice.
  • Demonstrate advanced knowledge in postnatal pelvic health, exercise prescription, and patient education.
  • Proven ability to lead service development and provide clinical supervision.

Preferred

  • Postgraduate qualification in Women’s Health, Pelvic Health, or related discipline.
  • Experience in acute hospital and community settings.
  • Evidence of continuing professional development and quality improvement initiatives.

    €66,162 – €78,585 per annum depending on experience and point of scale (Health & Social Care Professionals).
