Join the HSE Mid West team at University Hospital Limerick as a Consultant Cardiologist and General Physician (Grade 1020). This is a permanent, wholetime appointment within the HSE, offering the opportunity to work in a leading regional hospital serving Limerick, Clare, and Tipperary.
About the Role
As a Consultant Cardiologist, you will provide specialist cardiac care and contribute to general medicine within the HSE Mid West Region. You’ll join a multidisciplinary team delivering patient-centred care and advancing cardiac services at University Hospital Limerick.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver specialist cardiology and general medical services to inpatients and outpatients.
- Lead and participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and case reviews.
- Contribute to the development of cardiac care services and pathways in the region.
- Supervise and train NCHDs, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.
- Engage in audit, clinical governance, and quality improvement initiatives.
- Participate in on-call and rostered clinical duties as required by the service.
- Support academic and teaching activities in partnership with the University of Limerick School of Medicine.
Required Qualifications
Essential
- Registration as a Specialist in Cardiology in the Specialist Division of the Register of Medical Practitioners maintained by the Medical Council in Ireland.
- Proven experience in both cardiology and general internal medicine.
Preferred
- Previous experience in a tertiary or teaching hospital setting.
- Strong research, audit, and teaching portfolio.
