Join the HSE South West Mental Health Services as a Consultant General Adult Psychiatrist with the Crisis Resolution Team in North Cork. This is a rewarding, full-time, specified-purpose role contributing to high-quality psychiatric care within the North Cork Mental Health Service.
About the Role
As a Consultant General Adult Psychiatrist, you will provide clinical leadership and psychiatric expertise to the Crisis Resolution Team, ensuring timely, person-centred assessment and intervention for individuals in acute mental health crises. The post is based in North Cork, within the HSE South West Health Region.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver consultant-led psychiatric care and risk assessment for adults in crisis.
- Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams across community and inpatient settings.
- Provide supervision and mentorship to junior doctors and allied professionals.
- Contribute to service development and quality improvement initiatives.
- Engage in multidisciplinary case conferences and discharge planning.
- Participate in on-call rota as required.
- Ensure compliance with HSE policies and Mental Health Act provisions.
Required Qualifications
Essential
- Registration on the Specialist Division of the Register of Medical Practitioners maintained by the Medical Council in Ireland in the specialty of Psychiatry.
- Sufficient experience in General Adult Psychiatry at consultant or senior registrar level.
- Demonstrated clinical leadership, teamwork, and communication skills.
Preferred
- Experience in Crisis Intervention Services or Acute Community Psychiatry.
- Additional training or certification in risk management or trauma-informed care.
What We Offer
- Specified Purpose Wholetime Contract.
- Salary: per HSE Consolidated Consultant Salary Scales (effective 1 August 2025) for Consultant (143Y grade) — typically in the €214,113–€257,193 range depending on service commitment and experience, per Department of Health Circular 6/2025.
