Cork University Hospital (CUH) is inviting applications for the position of Registered Advanced Nurse Practitioner (ANP) specialising in Bladder Cancer. This is a permanent, wholetime post within HSE South West, based in Wilton, Cork.

As part of CUH’s commitment to clinical excellence, the successful candidate will lead evidence-based nursing practice and drive quality improvements in the management of patients with bladder cancer.


About the Role

Working within a multidisciplinary oncology team, the Advanced Nurse Practitioner (General) will provide expert clinical assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up for patients with bladder cancer. The postholder will lead innovation in advanced nursing practice, contribute to research and audit, and mentor nursing colleagues to enhance clinical standards across the service.


Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver advanced assessment, diagnosis, and treatment planning for bladder cancer patients.
  • Coordinate care in collaboration with urology and oncology consultants.
  • Lead service development initiatives and clinical audits.
  • Provide education and support to patients, families, and carers.
  • Contribute to professional development and mentorship of nursing staff.
  • Participate in clinical governance, quality assurance, and research activities.
  • Maintain clinical documentation and adhere to HSE standards of care and safety.

Required Qualifications

Essential

  • Registered General Nurse with An Bord Altranais agus Cnáimhseachais na hÉireann (NMBI).
  • Master’s degree (or higher) in nursing or a health-related field.
  • Completion of an Advanced Nurse Practitioner pathway accredited by NMBI.
  • Evidence of clinical experience in oncology or urology nursing.
  • Demonstrated leadership and decision-making skills.

Preferred

  • Experience in bladder cancer or urology service delivery.
  • Publication or research in advanced practice nursing.
  • Experience supervising multidisciplinary or nursing teams.
