About the Role
The HSE Mid West is inviting applications for a Midwifery Clinical Skills Facilitator (Theatre) based at University Maternity Hospital, Limerick. This key position supports the professional development and clinical competence of midwives and student midwives within the theatre setting, ensuring the highest standards of patient-centred care.
As a Clinical Midwife Manager 2, you’ll take a lead role in supporting evidence-based midwifery education, clinical supervision, and quality assurance across perioperative services.
Key Responsibilities
- Facilitate the ongoing clinical education, assessment, and mentorship of midwives and students within the theatre environment.
- Collaborate with the Midwifery Practice Development Coordinator and multidisciplinary teams to deliver quality-driven practice.
- Support implementation of HSE policies, national maternity standards, and clinical governance frameworks.
- Promote continuous professional development and reflective practice among theatre staff.
- Participate in audit, evaluation, and research initiatives to enhance patient safety and service quality.
- Maintain accurate records of education, competencies, and clinical skill performance.
- Contribute to workforce planning and service development in alignment with HSE Mid West priorities.
Required Qualifications
Essential
- Registered Midwife with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI).
- Minimum five years’ post-registration experience, including experience in the theatre setting.
- Demonstrated ability to teach, mentor, and support clinical skill development.
- Proven communication and leadership skills.
Desirable
- A postgraduate qualification in Clinical Education, Midwifery Practice Development, or Leadership & Management.
- Experience in developing and delivering midwifery training programmes.
