About the Role

The Brothers of Charity Services Ireland – Southern Region is seeking a Professionally Qualified Social Worker to join its Adults and Safeguarding Social Work Department in Glanmire, Co. Cork. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a team committed to promoting dignity, rights, and wellbeing for adults who require safeguarding and social support.

Working within a Section 38 Organisation, the successful candidate will collaborate closely with multidisciplinary colleagues to deliver a high standard of social work intervention, advocacy, and protection services for adults with intellectual disabilities and complex support needs.


Key Responsibilities

  • Provide professional social work services in accordance with HSE and CORU standards.
  • Undertake assessments, care planning, and case management for adults within the safeguarding remit.
  • Support individuals and families in navigating complex care, protection, and capacity matters.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary reviews and contribute to the development of safeguarding frameworks.
  • Prepare high-quality reports for internal and external stakeholders, including legal and statutory submissions.
  • Ensure compliance with policy, governance, and confidentiality standards.
  • Engage in continuous professional development and reflective practice.

Required Qualifications

Essential

  • Professional Qualification in Social Work (NQSW or equivalent) recognised by CORU.
  • CORU registration as a Social Worker.
  • Demonstrated experience working in adult safeguarding, disability, or community-based social work.
  • Excellent communication, report writing, and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation, including the Assisted Decision-Making (Capacity) Act and Safeguarding Vulnerable Persons Policy.

Desirable

  • Experience in a Section 38 or similar public-funded service.
  • Familiarity with HSE safeguarding structures and multidisciplinary working.
  • Post-qualification training in protection or capacity assessment.
