About the Role
The HSE is seeking a Candidate Advanced Nurse Practitioner (cANP) to join the Diabetes Type 1 team at Letterkenny University Hospital. This is a senior clinical role designed for nurses who have completed, or are completing, advanced practice education and are ready to progress to the Advanced Nurse Practitioner grade. The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering evidence-based care, leading innovation in diabetes management, and supporting multidisciplinary collaboration.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver expert nursing care for patients with Type 1 Diabetes Mellitus.
- Lead and coordinate advanced nursing interventions and education.
- Collaborate within the multidisciplinary diabetes care team.
- Contribute to service development, audit, and quality improvement.
- Support clinical governance and best practice initiatives in diabetes care.
Essential Requirements
- Registered General Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI).
- Evidence of progression toward or completion of a Master’s degree in Advanced Practice (Nursing).
- Demonstrated clinical expertise in diabetes management.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills.
Salary
Per HSE Consolidated Salary Scales (effective 1 August 2025) — Grade Code 2272, Advanced Nurse Practitioner (Candidate, General):
€70,725 – €79,872 per annum across six points on the scale.
