Galway University Hospitals (HSE West and North West) are seeking an experienced Clinical Nurse Specialist (General) to join the Nephrology Service. This permanent, wholetime role supports patients living with Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) and contributes to developing renal nursing services across the region.
Responsibilities
- Deliver specialist nursing care for CKD patients in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams.
- Support, educate, and empower patients and families to manage kidney disease effectively.
- Develop clinical pathways and guidelines to improve patient outcomes.
- Provide leadership, education, and mentorship to nursing colleagues.
- Participate in service development, audit, and research in line with HSE standards.
Qualifications & Experience
- Registered General Nurse with NMBI.
- Significant clinical experience in Nephrology or Renal Services.
- Evidence of ongoing professional development.
- Completed or willingness to complete:
- Nurse Prescribing of Medicinal Products Certificate.
- Nurse Prescribing of Ionising Radiation Certificate.

Salary Scale (as of 1 August 2025)
€61,463 – €77,666 per annum (11 points, LSI inclusive)
