The Health Service Executive (HSE) is inviting applications for the role of Senior Occupational Therapist within the Paediatric Wheelchair Service, based at Merlin Park Hospital, Galway. This permanent, wholetime position focuses on complex seating, postural management, and paediatric rehabilitation.
Key Responsibilities
• Provide advanced occupational therapy services in the assessment and management of paediatric clients with complex seating needs.
• Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams including physiotherapists, engineers, and rehabilitation specialists.
• Conduct assessments for postural and mobility needs using evidence-based interventions.
• Support children and families to optimise participation and independence in daily life.
• Contribute to service development initiatives within the Paediatric Wheelchair Service.
• Supervise and mentor junior staff and students where required.
Required Skills & Qualifications
• Hold a recognised qualification in Occupational Therapy and be registered with CORU.
• Minimum three years post-qualification experience, with depth and breadth in complex seating and postural management.
• Demonstrated understanding of typical and atypical child development and the impact of disability on functional performance.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Commitment to continuous professional development and service excellence.
Salary, Benefits & Working Hours
• Grade: Occupational Therapist – Senior (3301)
• HSE consolidated pay scale (effective 1 August 2025) applies: €62,795 – €74,146 per annum (approx., based on Circular 6/2025).
• Full-time, permanent position under public sector terms and conditions.
• Standard public service pension, annual leave, and benefits apply.
