Midlands Regional Hospital Tullamore is seeking a Consultant in General Anaesthesiology (Temporary, Specified Purpose, Whole-time) to support acute perioperative and critical care services. This senior post offers the opportunity to work within a dynamic anaesthesia department serving the Midlands region.
Table of Contents
Key Responsibilities
• Deliver high-quality anaesthetic services across theatre, critical care, emergency, and obstetric settings.
• Provide perioperative assessment, planning and management for patients requiring surgical intervention.
• Participate in the on-call rota and multidisciplinary decision-making.
• Lead and support clinical governance, quality improvement, and audit activities.
• Contribute to education, training and supervision of NCHDs and other staff.
• Collaborate with wider hospital and regional teams to deliver safe and efficient patient care.
Required Skills & Qualifications
• Registered or eligible for registration in the Specialist Division (Anaesthesia) of the Irish Medical Council.
• Completed specialist training in Anaesthesiology.
• Demonstrated clinical expertise in general anaesthesia and perioperative care.
• Strong leadership, communication, and teamwork skills.
• Commitment to patient safety, audit, research, and continuous professional development.
Salary, Benefits & Working Hours
• Salary and allowances in accordance with the approved Health Service Executive Consultant Contract and Department of Health Consolidated Salary Scales (effective 1 August 2025).
• Specified Purpose, Whole-time contract.
