Cork University Hospital is seeking an experienced and strategic General Manager to lead its Services Department. This senior leadership role offers the opportunity to influence service delivery at one of Ireland’s largest acute teaching hospitals while contributing to patient-centred, high-quality healthcare.

This General Manager Cork University Hospital position is a permanent, whole-time appointment within the HSE South West region and is open to both HSE and non-HSE applicants.
Key Responsibilities
• Provide strategic and operational leadership for the Services Department
• Ensure safe, effective, and efficient delivery of hospital support services
• Lead multidisciplinary teams and manage complex operational portfolios
• Drive performance, quality improvement, and service innovation
• Manage budgets, workforce planning, and resource allocation
• Ensure compliance with HSE policies, governance, and regulatory requirements
• Collaborate with senior clinical and corporate leadership across the hospital group
Required Skills & Qualifications
• Proven senior management experience in healthcare or a large, complex organisation
• Strong leadership, strategic planning, and change-management capability
• Demonstrated experience in operational service delivery and performance management
• Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement, and decision-making skills
• Relevant third-level qualification in management, healthcare, or a related discipline
• Experience working within public sector or regulated environments is desirable
