An exceptional senior leadership opportunity has arisen for a Regional Director of Nursing & Midwifery within the Dublin and South East health region. This executive role provides strategic, professional, and operational leadership across nursing and midwifery services, ensuring safe, high-quality, and person-centred care at regional level.

This is a permanent, whole-time appointment and is open to both HSE and non-HSE applicants.


Key Responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership and professional governance for nursing and midwifery services across the region
• Lead the development and implementation of regional nursing and midwifery strategies aligned with national policy
• Ensure high standards of clinical quality, patient safety, and regulatory compliance
• Contribute to executive-level decision-making within the Regional Health Area leadership team
• Drive workforce planning, education, and professional development initiatives
• Foster innovation, service improvement, and integrated care delivery
• Represent nursing and midwifery at national and regional forums
• Ensure effective resource management and accountability frameworks


Required Skills & Qualifications

• Registration as a Nurse and/or Midwife on the relevant division of the NMBI register
• Significant senior leadership experience at director or equivalent level
• Demonstrated expertise in strategic planning, governance, and service transformation
• Strong understanding of Irish health policy and HSE operational structures
• Proven ability to lead large, multidisciplinary teams
• Excellent communication, influencing, and stakeholder engagement skills
• Relevant postgraduate qualification at Level 9 or above is desirable


Salary, Benefits & Working Hours

Salary Scale (Grade 2347 – August 2025):
€122,969 – €150,292 per annum, depending on experience and point of scale

Location & Employer Information
