Galway University Hospitals is seeking a Supplementary Central Sterile Services Department (CSSD) Operative to support critical decontamination and sterilisation services. This role plays a vital part in patient safety by ensuring medical devices and equipment are processed to the highest standards. The post is open to both HSE and non-HSE applicants.
Table of Contents
Key Responsibilities
• Perform decontamination, inspection, assembly, packaging, and sterilisation of medical devices
• Operate CSSD and endoscopy decontamination equipment in line with protocols
• Maintain accurate records and traceability documentation
• Adhere strictly to infection prevention and control standards
• Support continuous quality improvement within the CSSD service
• Work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary hospital team
• Comply with all HSE policies, procedures, and safety requirements
Required Skills & Qualifications
• Demonstrated depth and breadth of experience in Endoscopy, Decontamination, or CSSD
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality standards
• Ability to follow standard operating procedures precisely
• Good communication and teamwork skills
• Flexibility to work required shifts in a hospital environment
• Previous healthcare or sterile services experience is essential

• Salary in line with HSE Consolidated Salary Scales for C.S.S.D. Operative Grade 5785
