The Health Service Executive South West is seeking a Grade VIII Quality and Patient Safety Manager to provide strategic leadership across risk, incident, and quality management functions. This senior role will drive a proactive, consistent approach to quality and patient safety across services in Kerry and Cork.
Table of Contents
Key Responsibilities
• Lead the incident and risk management function within the Quality & Safety Department
• Implement and oversee HSE Risk and Incident Management policies and guidance
• Develop and maintain risk assessment processes and organisational risk registers
• Lead systems for incident management, escalation, and external reporting (e.g. HIQA, CIS)
• Monitor incident management activity and track implementation of investigation recommendations
• Oversee complaints management processes and learning dissemination
• Prepare assurance, risk, and incident reports for the Chief Officer, HSE South West
Required Skills & Qualifications
• Significant senior management experience in healthcare quality, safety, or risk management
• Demonstrated expertise in incident management and organisational risk frameworks
• Strong leadership, governance, and stakeholder engagement skills
• Excellent analytical, reporting, and communication abilities
• Relevant third-level qualification (essential); postgraduate qualification desirable

• Salary: As per HSE Grade VIII consolidated salary scale (Department of Health Circular 6/2025)

Location & Employer Information
This role is based in the HSE South West Region, serving communities across Cork and Kerry, with offices at Borg Warner, Tralee or Erinville, Western Road, Cork. The post plays a critical role in strengthening patient safety and quality governance across regional health services.
