The Grade IV Pathology Secretary Dublin role offers an excellent opportunity to join the BreastCheck Eccles Unit within the public health service. This permanent wholetime administrative position plays a key role in supporting the Department of Histopathology and ensuring efficient pathology and screening services.

This competition is open to both HSE and non-HSE applicants.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive secretarial and administrative support to the Pathology and Histopathology teams.
  • Manage correspondence, documentation, and clinical reports with accuracy and confidentiality.
  • Maintain electronic and manual records in line with HSE data protection policies.
  • Coordinate appointments, meetings, and service-related communications.
  • Liaise with clinical staff, management, and external stakeholders as required.
  • Ensure efficient workflow within the BreastCheck Eccles Unit.
  • Support service improvement initiatives within the department.

Required Skills & Qualifications

Candidates must meet one of the following eligibility criteria on or before the closing date:

  • Satisfactory experience as a Clerical Officer in the HSE, TUSLA, other statutory health agencies, or a body providing services under Section 38 of the Health Act 2004.
  • OR a pass (Grade D or higher) in at least five subjects in the Leaving Certificate Examination, including Mathematics and English or Irish, with at least Grade C on higher level papers in three subjects.
  • OR a comparable and relevant qualification at Level 6 or higher on the National Qualifications Framework (QQI).
  • OR a comparable equivalent qualification from another jurisdiction.
  • Must be fully competent and capable of undertaking the duties attached to the office.
  • Must be of good character and in a state of health suitable for regular and efficient service.

  • Contract Type: Permanent Wholetime.
  • Salary: In accordance with HSE Consolidated Salary Scales and Department of Health Circular 1/2025.
