This Clinical Skills Facilitator (CNM2) Galway opportunity offers an exciting leadership role within HSE West and North West, supporting high standards of clinical education and professional development. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in enhancing Medical and Surgical nursing practice through structured training, mentorship, and clinical governance initiatives.
This position is ideal for an experienced nurse leader with strong Medical / Surgical expertise and a passion for advancing clinical standards and patient safety.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate clinical skills development programmes for nursing staff.
- Support implementation of evidence-based practice across Medical and Surgical services.
- Facilitate clinical training, simulation sessions, and competency assessments.
- Promote best practice standards aligned with national HSE policies and procedures.
- Provide mentorship and professional support to nursing teams.
- Participate in quality improvement and patient safety initiatives.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to enhance service delivery.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Registered General Nurse with active registration on the NMBI register.
- Significant depth and breadth of experience in Medical / Surgical nursing.
- Experience in clinical education, practice development, or facilitation roles.
- Strong leadership, organisational, and communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to lead quality improvement initiatives.
- Eligibility to work in Ireland.

- Salary aligned with the HSE Clinical Nurse Manager 2 (Grade 2119) pay scale (February 2026 consolidated scales).

Location & Employer Information
This role is based in Galway within the HSE West and North West region, covering services across Donegal, Sligo, Leitrim, Roscommon, Mayo, and Galway. The Clinical Skills Facilitator will support service development and nursing excellence within Galway University Hospitals and associated services.
