Job Overview
St Luke’s General Hospital Kilkenny is seeking a dedicated Staff Midwife to join its maternity services team. This Staff Midwife Kilkenny opportunity offers the chance to deliver high-quality, woman-centred care across ante-natal, intrapartum and post-natal settings.
Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, the successful candidate will provide holistic, safe and effective midwifery care, promoting optimum independence and enhancing the quality of life for women, babies and their families.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess, plan, implement and evaluate midwifery care to the highest professional and ethical standards.
- Deliver holistic, person-centred care in line with the model of midwifery care practiced within the service.
- Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to ensure safe, effective and high-quality maternity services.
- Provide care across a variety of clinical settings including Ante-Natal, Intrapartum and Post-Natal areas.
- Participate in rotation to the Integrated Community Midwifery Service where required.
- Maintain accurate documentation and adhere to all relevant clinical governance and HSE policies.
- Support women and families through all stages of the maternity journey.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Be registered in the Midwives Division of the Register of Nurses and Midwives maintained by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI) or be eligible to be so registered.
- Demonstrate clinical competence in ante-natal, intrapartum and post-natal care.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development and evidence-based practice.
- Excellent organisational and time management skills.

- Salary aligned with the HSE Staff Midwife Grade 2143 pay scale in accordance with national public sector agreements.
