Job Overview
The Clinical Nurse Manager 3 Cork opportunity at Cork University Hospital offers a senior nursing leadership role with responsibility for night services and out-of-office management. This permanent wholetime position plays a critical role in ensuring safe, effective, and high-quality patient care across the hospital outside of core operational hours.
Reporting at senior level, the post holder will provide clinical, operational, and professional leadership while supporting multidisciplinary teams and maintaining service continuity across the hospital campus.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide senior clinical leadership and decision-making support during night duty and out-of-office hours.
- Ensure safe staffing levels and appropriate skill mix across hospital departments.
- Coordinate emergency responses and manage clinical escalations as required.
- Support and supervise nursing and multidisciplinary teams to maintain high standards of patient care.
- Oversee patient flow, capacity management, and operational efficiency during assigned shifts.
- Ensure compliance with HSE policies, clinical governance standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Act as a key liaison between on-call consultants, senior management, and frontline teams.
- Contribute to quality improvement initiatives and risk management processes.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Registered General Nurse with active registration on the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI).
- Significant post-registration clinical experience, including management experience at senior level.
- Proven leadership and team management capability within an acute hospital setting.
- Strong decision-making, communication, and organisational skills.
- Demonstrated ability to manage complex clinical and operational situations.
- In-depth knowledge of clinical governance, patient safety standards, and healthcare legislation.
- Management qualification or relevant postgraduate study (desirable).
