The Health Service Executive (HSE) is seeking applications for the position of Ophthalmic Technician (Teicneoir Oftalmach) in Dublin North under reference DNE26058. This permanent wholetime opportunity forms part of the Patient and Client Care category and plays a key role in supporting ophthalmology services across the Integrated Health Areas of Dublin North County and Dublin North City & West.
As an Ophthalmic Technician Dublin HSE professional, you will work closely with Consultant Medical Ophthalmologists and multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality diagnostic and patient-focused eye care services.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist Consultant Ophthalmologists and medical teams in clinical ophthalmology settings.
- Perform ophthalmic diagnostic tests including visual acuity, visual field testing, and other specialised assessments.
- Prepare patients for examination and provide clear explanations of procedures.
- Maintain and calibrate ophthalmic equipment in accordance with HSE standards.
- Accurately record clinical findings and maintain patient records.
- Ensure infection prevention and control procedures are followed at all times.
- Support efficient clinic flow and contribute to high standards of patient care.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Relevant qualification aligned to Health Care Assistant Grade 6075 or equivalent experience in ophthalmic services.
- Previous experience in an ophthalmology or clinical diagnostic setting is desirable.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
- High level of attention to detail and commitment to patient-centred care.
- Eligibility to work in Ireland.
