Job Overview

As Director of Nursing, Assistant (Non Band 1) for Older Persons Services, you will provide professional and managerial leadership in the planning, development, and delivery of nursing services. The role requires strategic oversight, strong governance capability, and a commitment to continuous quality improvement.

You will support integrated care delivery across services in Dublin North County and Dublin North City & West, ensuring safe, effective, and person-centred care aligned with national standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide senior nursing leadership across Older Persons Services within the designated Integrated Health Areas.
  • Ensure compliance with national clinical governance, quality, and safety standards.
  • Lead service planning, workforce development, and operational performance management.
  • Support implementation of strategic objectives and service transformation initiatives.
  • Oversee risk management, audit, and quality improvement frameworks.
  • Promote interdisciplinary collaboration across community and residential care services.
  • Contribute to policy development and evidence-based practice initiatives.
  • Support recruitment, retention, and professional development of nursing staff.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Registration as a General Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI).
  • Significant senior nursing management experience within older persons or related services.
  • Demonstrated experience in service planning, governance, and quality assurance.
  • Strong leadership, organisational, and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement capability.
  • Relevant postgraduate qualification in nursing management or leadership (desirable).
  • Eligibility to work in Ireland.

Salary, Benefits & Working Hours

  • Salary aligned to HSE pay scale: Assistant Director of Nursing (Non Band 1 – Grade Code 2913), ranging from €68,493 to €82,015 (as per February 2026 consolidated salary scales).
