The Assistant Director of Nursing – Theatre role at Children’s Health Ireland offers an exceptional leadership opportunity within a specialist paediatric healthcare environment in Dublin South. This Assistant Director of Nursing Theatre position is open to both HSE and non-HSE applicants and sits within a publicly funded Section 38 organisation aligned with HSE Dublin and Midlands.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide professional and clinical leadership across theatre nursing services.
- Support the Director of Nursing in strategic planning and service development.
- Ensure safe, effective, and patient-centred care delivery within theatre environments.
- Lead workforce planning, rostering, and resource management.
- Promote quality improvement initiatives, clinical governance, and risk management frameworks.
- Support recruitment, staff development, performance management, and succession planning.
- Ensure compliance with HIQA standards, national policies, and organisational procedures.
- Foster interdisciplinary collaboration across surgical and perioperative teams.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Registered General Nurse with active registration on the NMBI register.
- Minimum of 7 years post-registration experience, including significant theatre nursing experience.
- Minimum of 3 years management experience at Clinical Nurse Manager 2 level or above.
- Recognised management qualification (Level 8 or higher) or commitment to complete same.
- Demonstrated leadership, governance, and service development experience.
- Strong knowledge of perioperative standards, infection prevention, and patient safety frameworks.
- Excellent communication, organisational, and team leadership skills.
Salary, Benefits & Working Hours
- Salary aligned to the Assistant Director of Nursing (Band 1 Hospitals) scale.
- Current scale (effective 1 February 2026): €72,122 – €89,004 per annum, incremental scale.
