Job Overview

Tipperary University Hospital is seeking a highly skilled Radiographer Clinical Specialist (Radiation Protection Officer) to lead and enhance radiation safety practices across the service. This permanent wholetime position offers an excellent opportunity to drive quality, compliance, and innovation in radiation protection within a dynamic acute hospital setting.

This Radiographer Clinical Specialist Tipperary role is open to both HSE and non-HSE applicants and is based within HSE Dublin and South East.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee radiation protection services in compliance with national legislation and hospital policies.
  • Act as Radiation Protection Officer, ensuring safe use of ionising radiation across all relevant departments.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor radiation safety protocols and quality assurance programmes.
  • Provide expert advice and training to clinical and non-clinical staff on radiation safety standards.
  • Conduct audits, risk assessments, and incident reviews to drive continuous quality improvement.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to enhance patient safety and service development.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and ensure regulatory compliance at all times.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Qualification as a Radiographer with registration in good standing with CORU.
  • Recognised postgraduate qualification in Radiation Safety (essential).
  • Demonstrated depth and breadth of experience in Radiation Safety relevant to the role.
  • Proven ability to drive improvements in quality and safety within a clinical setting.
  • Strong leadership, organisational, and communication skills.
  • Experience in service development and change management is highly desirable.
