The Grade VII Safety and Emergency Manager Kilkenny role is a senior management opportunity within St. Luke’s General Hospital, Kilkenny, part of HSE Dublin and South East. Job Overview
The Grade VII Safety and Emergency Manager will provide leadership in occupational health and safety, emergency planning, and risk management across St. Luke’s General Hospital. The postholder will ensure statutory compliance, develop and implement safety policies, and support operational teams in maintaining a safe environment for patients, staff, and visitors.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the hospital’s health and safety management systems in line with national HSE policy and statutory requirements.
- Develop, implement, and monitor emergency planning and major incident response frameworks.
- Conduct risk assessments, audits, and inspections, ensuring corrective actions are implemented effectively.
- Provide expert advice to senior management and clinical teams on safety legislation and compliance matters.
- Coordinate safety training programmes and promote a proactive safety culture throughout the organisation.
- Investigate incidents and near misses, ensuring robust reporting and learning mechanisms are in place.
- Liaise with regulatory authorities and external agencies as required.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- A relevant third-level qualification in Health & Safety, Risk Management, Occupational Health, or a related discipline.
- Demonstrated experience in a senior safety or emergency management role.
- Strong knowledge of Irish health and safety legislation and emergency planning standards.
- Excellent analytical, organisational, and report-writing skills.
- Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and influence senior stakeholders.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
