Job Overview
The Health Service Executive is seeking applications for the role of Health Care Assistant Wicklow & Dublin within Older Persons Services. This supplementary campaign offers permanent opportunities across community nursing units and residential care settings, supporting high-quality, person-centred care for older adults.
Successful candidates will play a vital role in enhancing the wellbeing, dignity, and independence of residents while working as part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality personal care to residents in line with individual care plans.
- Support residents with activities of daily living including hygiene, mobility, nutrition, and social engagement.
- Promote dignity, privacy, and respect at all times.
- Assist nursing staff in monitoring residents’ wellbeing and reporting changes in condition.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and supportive care environment.
- Adhere to safeguarding principles and HSE policies and procedures.
- Work collaboratively as part of the multidisciplinary team.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Demonstrated professional knowledge and experience in caring for older persons in a residential or nursing home setting.
- Awareness and understanding of safeguarding principles and best practice.
- Relevant QQI Level 5 qualification in Healthcare Support (or equivalent).
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Commitment to delivering compassionate, person-centred care.

- One permanent, whole-time position in St. Colman’s Residential Care Centre, Rathdrum, Co. Wicklow.
- Two permanent, whole-time positions in Clonskeagh Community Nursing Unit, Co. Dublin.
- One permanent, part-time (0.51 WTE) position in Dalkey Community Unit, Co. Dublin.
A panel may be formed from this campaign to fill current and future permanent or specified purpose vacancies (full-time or part-time) within HSE Dublin South & Wicklow.
