The Clinical Nurse Manager 3 – Theatre Donegal position offers an exceptional leadership opportunity within the perioperative services at Letterkenny University Hospital. This permanent wholetime role is responsible for the strategic and operational management of theatre nursing services, ensuring the highest standards of patient care, safety, and clinical governance.
As a senior nursing leader, you will play a pivotal role in service development, workforce planning, quality improvement, and the delivery of safe, efficient surgical care within a dynamic acute hospital environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide strategic leadership and operational management of the Theatre Department.
- Ensure the delivery of safe, high-quality, patient-centred perioperative care.
- Lead and support nursing teams through effective workforce planning and performance management.
- Promote clinical governance, risk management, and compliance with HSE policies and national standards.
- Drive continuous quality improvement initiatives and service development projects.
- Manage resources effectively, including staffing, budgeting, and equipment.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to optimise theatre efficiency and patient outcomes.
- Support education, training, and professional development within the theatre service.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Registered General Nurse on the active register maintained by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI).
- Minimum of 7 years post-registration experience, including substantial experience in perioperative/theatre nursing.
- Minimum of 5 years management experience at Clinical Nurse Manager level or equivalent.
- Demonstrated leadership, organisational, and decision-making skills.
- Strong knowledge of clinical governance, risk management, and quality improvement frameworks.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and team-building abilities.
- Relevant management qualification or willingness to undertake same is desirable.
Salary, Benefits & Working Hours
- Salary Scale: Clinical Nurse Manager 3 (Grade Code 233X) in line with February 2026 HSE consolidated pay scales.
- Current salary range: €71,432 – €80,671 per annum (pro-rata where applicable).
