Job Overview
The Clinical Nurse Specialist IPC Sligo role offers an exciting opportunity to join Sligo University Hospital as part of the Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) team. This specified purpose wholetime post plays a vital role in promoting best practice, reducing healthcare-associated infections, and ensuring the highest standards of patient safety across the hospital.
This opportunity is open to both HSE and non-HSE applicants and is based within HSE West and North West.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide specialist nursing expertise in Infection Prevention and Control practices.
- Lead and support infection surveillance, monitoring, and reporting activities.
- Deliver education and training programmes to multidisciplinary teams.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate IPC policies and clinical guidelines.
- Advise on outbreak management and risk assessment strategies.
- Promote evidence-based practice to reduce healthcare-associated infections.
- Collaborate with clinical teams to ensure compliance with national IPC standards.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Registered General Nurse on the active register maintained by NMBI.
- Relevant postgraduate qualification or significant experience in Infection Prevention and Control.
- Minimum required clinical experience in an acute hospital setting.
- Demonstrated leadership, communication, and organisational skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary environment.
- Commitment to continuous professional development and quality improvement.
