Job Overview

The Maintenance Craftsman Technician HSE Midlands role offers a permanent, whole-time opportunity within the Health Service Executive in the Dublin and Midlands region. These positions support essential healthcare infrastructure, ensuring buildings, systems, and facilities operate safely and efficiently.

Vacancies are currently available in St Joseph’s Care Centre, Co. Longford and St Lomans Hospital, Mullingar, Co. Westmeath. A panel may also be formed for future vacancies across the Dublin Midlands Region.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out maintenance, repair, and installation works across hospital and care centre facilities
  • Perform carpentry and general building works as required
  • Maintain plant, equipment, and building fabric to a high standard
  • Respond promptly to reactive maintenance requests
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations
  • Support preventative maintenance programmes
  • Maintain accurate records of works completed
  • Collaborate with maintenance managers and clinical teams to minimise disruption

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Relevant craft qualification (e.g., Carpentry or equivalent recognised trade)
  • Demonstrated experience in building maintenance or technical services
  • Strong knowledge of health and safety standards
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Full driving licence may be required
  • Flexibility to respond to service needs

Salary, Benefits & Working Hours

  • Grade: Maintenance Craftsman/Technician (Grade Code 5606)
  • Salary aligned with HSE General Support consolidated pay scales (February 2026 revision)
