Job Overview
The Senior Epidemiologist HSE Kilkenny role offers an opportunity to lead and strengthen public health surveillance systems across the HSE Dublin and South East region. This senior position plays a critical role in applying advanced epidemiological methods to inform healthcare planning, service delivery, and population health improvement.
This post is open to both HSE and non-HSE applicants and offers the opportunity to contribute at regional level while supporting and mentoring surveillance teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the implementation and management of public health surveillance systems.
- Apply advanced epidemiological methods to inform healthcare decision-making.
- Analyse, interpret, and present complex health data to support service planning.
- Provide expert advice on communicable and non-communicable disease trends.
- Supervise, mentor and train surveillance staff across the region.
- Contribute to outbreak response, service evaluation, and quality improvement initiatives.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across HSE Dublin and South East.
- Prepare detailed epidemiological reports for senior management and stakeholders.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Demonstrated depth and breadth of experience in implementing and managing surveillance systems.
- Extensive experience applying epidemiological methods in a healthcare context.
- Proven ability to supervise, mentor and train surveillance staff.
- Strong analytical, reporting and data interpretation skills.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement abilities.
- Eligibility to work in Ireland.
Salary, Benefits & Working Hours
- Salary Scale (1 February 2026): €75,344 – €98,479 (9-point scale).
- Starting Salary (Point 1): €75,344 per annum.
- Salary in accordance with the HSE Consolidated Salary Scales effective 1 February 2026.
