The Wexford Residential Intellectual Disability Services are seeking a dedicated Staff Nurse – Intellectual Disability to join their multidisciplinary team within HSE Dublin and South East. This role offers the opportunity to deliver person-centred, evidence-based nursing care that promotes independence, dignity, and quality of life for individuals with intellectual disabilities.
This Staff Nurse Intellectual Disability Wexford position is ideal for a compassionate and skilled nurse committed to supporting service users in a residential setting while contributing to continuous service improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality, person-centred nursing care in accordance with HSE standards and policies
- Support individuals with intellectual disabilities in achieving optimal health and wellbeing
- Develop and implement individualised care plans in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team
- Administer medications and treatments safely and effectively
- Promote independence, inclusion, and community participation for service users
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation and reports
- Participate in service development, quality improvement, and risk management initiatives
- Escort and transport service users to appointments where required
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Registered as a Nurse on the Intellectual Disability Division of the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI)
- Demonstrated experience in intellectual disability or residential care settings
- Strong clinical assessment and decision-making skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
- Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team
- Full unendorsed Irish Driver’s Licence (Category B – Manual) held for a minimum of 2 years
- Availability to drive a HSE vehicle when required
Salary, Benefits & Working Hours
Salary Scale: €37,788 – €56,032 (LSI applicable), aligned with the HSE Staff Nurse (Intellectual Disability) pay scale.
Contract: Specified Purpose – Wholetime
