Job Overview
Wexford General Hospital is seeking experienced professionals for the Health Care Assistant Wexford Staff Bank panel (Ref: DSESBW26). This opportunity is open to both HSE and non-HSE applicants and offers flexible “if and when” contracts within a busy acute hospital environment.
This role is ideal for Healthcare Assistants who have recent acute setting experience and wish to contribute to high-quality patient care across a dynamic clinical setting in County Wexford.
Key Responsibilities
- • Provide direct patient care and support under the supervision of nursing staff
- • Assist patients with personal care, mobility, and daily living activities
- • Support infection prevention and control measures within the ward
- • Maintain accurate documentation in line with hospital policies
- • Assist with patient transfers and safe manual handling practices
- • Observe and report changes in patient condition to nursing staff
- • Ensure a clean, safe, and supportive care environment
Required Skills & Qualifications
- • Previous experience working as a Healthcare Assistant in an acute setting within the last 12 months (essential)
- • QQI Level 5 Healthcare Support (or equivalent qualification)
- • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- • Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
- • Knowledge of infection prevention and control standards
- • Flexibility to work varied shifts as required
Salary, Benefits & Working Hours
Salary Scale (Health Care Assistant Grade 6075):
€36,288 – €45,484 per annum (incremental scale based on experience)
