Cork University Hospital is seeking a dedicated and detail-focused Medical Scientist (Histopathology) to join its specialist laboratory team in Cork. Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine and specialised histopathology laboratory procedures in accordance with established protocols.
- Prepare, process and analyse tissue samples for diagnostic evaluation.
- Operate and maintain laboratory equipment to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
- Ensure compliance with quality assurance standards and laboratory accreditation requirements.
- Maintain accurate laboratory records and documentation.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to support optimal patient outcomes.
- Participate in training, audits, and continuous professional development initiatives.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- CORU registration as a Medical Scientist (or eligibility for registration).
- Relevant qualification in Biomedical Science or equivalent recognised degree.
- Experience in histopathology laboratory practice is highly desirable.
- Strong analytical skills with excellent attention to detail.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Commitment to quality, safety, and continuous improvement.
Salary, Benefits & Working Hours
Salary Scale: €44,831 – €74,404 per annum (including LSI), in line with HSE Medical Scientist Grade 3875 pay scales and dependent on relevant experience.
Contract Type: Permanent Wholetime
