The Clinical Midwifery Manager II (Reference P3322) role at Portiuncula University Hospital, Galway offers an excellent opportunity for an experienced midwife to lead and support clinical practice within the maternity department. This position plays a vital leadership role in maintaining high standards of patient care, professional development, and evidence-based practice.
This is a Fixed Term Wholetime or Permanent Wholetime opportunity within HSE West and North West and is open to both HSE and non-HSE applicants.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide clinical leadership and expert support to midwives within the maternity department
- Support and supervise midwifery staff to ensure best practice standards are maintained
- Deliver and update evidence-based education programmes
- Provide clinical supervision, mentoring, and act as an expert resource
- Incorporate simulation-based learning into teaching strategies
- Demonstrate strong planning, organisational and prioritisation skills
- Ensure high standards of care delivery across all areas of responsibility
- Maintain accessibility and engagement with staff midwives
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Current registration as a Midwife with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI)
- Significant clinical experience working with midwives in practice
- Demonstrated competence in clinical skills relevant to maternity services
- Proven experience in clinical supervision and mentoring
- Commitment to continuous professional development
- Strong leadership, time management and organisational abilities
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Salary, Benefits & Working Hours
Salary Scale: €62,078 – €78,443 (LSI applicable)
