Job Overview
The Health Care Assistant Home Support role offers an opportunity to deliver essential care within the community across Sligo and Leitrim. This position plays a vital role in supporting individuals to live independently in their own homes while maintaining dignity, comfort, and quality of life. As part of HSE West and North West, you will contribute directly to frontline community healthcare services.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide personal care and practical support to clients in their homes.
- Assist with mobility, hygiene, dressing, and nutritional needs.
- Support service users in maintaining independence and daily routines.
- Observe and report any changes in clients’ health or wellbeing.
- Maintain accurate records in line with HSE policies and procedures.
- Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams and supervisors.
- Adhere to infection prevention and control standards at all times.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Relevant healthcare qualification or commitment to obtain same.
- Previous experience in a care or support role is desirable.
- Full clean driver’s licence.
- Access to transport to fulfil the requirements of the post.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Commitment to person-centred care and safeguarding standards.
Salary, Benefits & Working Hours
Salary Scale: €38,291 – €42,733 per annum (pro rata for part-time positions).
Multiple contract types available including Permanent Part-time, Permanent Wholetime, Specified Purpose Part-time and Specified Purpose Wholetime. Successful candidates will benefit from public sector pension entitlements, annual leave, structured pay increments, and ongoing training and development opportunities.
Location & Employer Information
This position is based in the community across Sligo and Leitrim within the HSE West and North West region (Donegal, Sligo, Leitrim, Roscommon, Mayo and Galway). The service is committed to delivering high-quality, person-centred home support services to individuals in their own homes.
