Job Overview
Cavan Monaghan Hospital is seeking a Staff Grade Pharmacist to join its Pharmacy Department on a permanent whole-time basis. This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified pharmacist to contribute to safe, effective, and patient-focused care within a busy acute hospital environment. The Staff Grade Pharmacist Cavan role offers the chance to work closely with multidisciplinary teams while supporting high standards in medicines management and clinical pharmacy services.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide pharmacy services that support the safe and effective use of medicines across the hospital.
- Dispense, review, and verify prescriptions in line with hospital policies and professional standards.
- Support clinical pharmacy activities for patients in collaboration with medical, nursing, and allied health teams.
- Contribute to medicines reconciliation, patient counselling, and medication safety initiatives.
- Maintain accurate pharmacy records and ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, and professional requirements.
- Assist with stock control, storage, and distribution of medicines within the Pharmacy Department.
- Participate in service development, audit, quality improvement, and risk management activities.
- Work flexibly as required to meet the operational needs of Cavan Monaghan Hospital.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Be registered, or eligible for registration, as a pharmacist in accordance with the relevant professional requirements in Ireland.
- Demonstrated knowledge of safe medicines management and pharmacy practice standards.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary setting.
- Ability to prioritise workload and maintain accuracy in a fast-paced hospital environment.
- Commitment to patient safety, quality care, and continuous professional development.
- Experience in hospital pharmacy practice is desirable.
- Access to appropriate transport to fulfil the requirements of the role.
Salary, Benefits & Working Hours
This permanent whole-time position offers a salary scale of €49,985, €53,193, €56,586, €60,083, €63,656, €67,249, €70,910, €74,637, €78,433, and €79,958, plus LSI where applicable.
