Job Overview
This is an excellent opportunity for qualified midwives to join maternity services across HSE West and North West. As a Staff Midwife, you will provide high-quality, woman-centred care throughout pregnancy, labour, and postnatal stages. Key Responsibilities
- Provide safe, effective, and compassionate midwifery care to women and newborns
- Support women throughout antenatal, intrapartum, and postnatal stages
- Monitor maternal and fetal wellbeing and respond appropriately to clinical changes
- Work collaboratively with obstetricians, nurses, and allied health professionals
- Maintain accurate patient records in line with HSE standards
- Promote health education and support informed decision-making for patients
- Ensure adherence to clinical guidelines, policies, and safety protocols
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Registered Midwife with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI) or eligible for registration
- Demonstrated clinical competence in midwifery practice
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team
- Commitment to continuous professional development
- Flexibility to work across different sites and shifts
Salary, Benefits & Working Hours
Salary scale: €37,788 – €56,032 (based on HSE Staff Midwife salary scale, including incremental progression and long service increments).
Contract types available include Permanent (Part-time and Whole-time) and Specified Purpose (Part-time and Whole-time).

Location & Employer Information
This role is based across HSE West and North West facilities, including locations in Galway, Donegal, Mayo, and Sligo. You will work within established maternity services providing essential care to diverse communities across the region.
