Job Overview
The Staff Nurse Oncology role involves delivering safe, effective, and compassionate nursing care to patients undergoing cancer treatment. Working within a multidisciplinary team, you will play a vital role in patient assessment, treatment delivery, and ongoing support throughout the care pathway.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality nursing care to oncology patients in an acute hospital setting
- Administer treatments and monitor patient responses in line with clinical protocols
- Perform venepuncture and cannulation procedures safely and effectively
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes
- Maintain accurate patient records and documentation
- Support patients and families through education and emotional care
- Adhere to infection control and health & safety standards
- Participate in ongoing professional development and training
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Registered General Nurse with relevant Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI) registration
- Minimum of one year experience in an acute hospital setting
- Proven experience in venepuncture and cannulation
- Strong clinical judgement and patient care skills
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
- Commitment to continuous professional development
- Experience in oncology nursing is desirable
