Job Overview
The successful candidate will provide consultant-level psychiatric assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and ongoing care for adult mental health service users. The role involves close collaboration with multidisciplinary teams, clinical leadership responsibilities, and participation in service planning and continuous quality improvement initiatives across HSE West and North West.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide consultant psychiatric assessment and treatment for adult patients
- Lead and support multidisciplinary mental health teams
- Develop and implement patient-centred treatment plans
- Participate in clinical governance, audit, and quality improvement initiatives
- Provide leadership and mentorship to medical and healthcare staff
- Support service development and strategic planning within mental health services
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation and compliance with HSE standards
- Participate in on-call and emergency psychiatric services as required
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Full registration or eligibility for registration with the Irish Medical Council Specialist Division in Psychiatry
- Relevant consultant-level experience in General Adult Psychiatry
- Strong clinical leadership and multidisciplinary collaboration skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
- Commitment to patient safety, clinical excellence, and continuous improvement
- Experience working within public healthcare or mental health services is desirable
- Knowledge of Irish mental health legislation and best practice standards
Salary, Benefits & Working Hours
Salary will be aligned with HSE Consultant salary scales and relevant public sector terms and conditions.
