Job Overview
The Dietitian, Staff Grade position within HSE West and North West offers an excellent opportunity to work across hospital and community healthcare environments while supporting patients with nutritional assessment, intervention, and education. The role involves working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to improve patient wellbeing and clinical outcomes through professional dietetic services.
Successful candidates will contribute to nutrition and dietetic care pathways while supporting service delivery across one of Ireland’s largest regional healthcare networks.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide professional dietetic assessment, treatment, and nutritional advice to patients and service users.
- Develop individualised nutritional care plans in line with clinical best practice guidelines.
- Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary healthcare teams across hospital and community services.
- Maintain accurate patient records and documentation in accordance with HSE standards.
- Support health promotion initiatives and nutrition education programmes.
- Participate in service development, audits, and quality improvement initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with professional standards, governance requirements, and departmental policies.
- Contribute to patient-centred care and improved health outcomes throughout the HSE West and North West region.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Qualification recognised by CORU for Dietitian registration.
- Registration or eligibility for registration with CORU as a Dietitian.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary healthcare teams.
- Knowledge of evidence-based nutrition and dietetic practice.
- Excellent organisational and clinical documentation skills.
- Commitment to delivering patient-focused healthcare services.
- Previous clinical placement or healthcare experience is desirable.
Salary, Benefits and Working Hours
Salary will be aligned with HSE salary scales for Dietitian Grade 3389 positions. The HSE offers a competitive public sector benefits package including annual leave, pension entitlements, professional development opportunities, and access to training and career progression pathways.
Contracts available include Permanent Part-time, Permanent Whole-time, Specified Purpose Part-time, and Specified Purpose Whole-time positions.
